November 17th Revd Prof Dr Charlotte Methuen The Reformation and Brexit: history and the position of the UK in Europe
10:00 am - 12:00 pm, St Mark’s Church, Leeds Road,
Harrogate, HG2 8AY United Kingdom
The English Reformation has been cited as evidence both for and against the decision of the UK to leave the EU. Henry VIII’s idiosyncratically independent stance has been contrasted with the European dimension of Thomas Cranmer’s contacts and the influence of continental Reformers in England and in Scotland.  This paper will examine those arguments, and explore them in the context of the engagement of the Churches of England and Scotland in the debates surrounding Brexit.

December 1st, Rt Revd Graham Tomlin, General Epistles part 2
9:30 am - 12:00 pm, Mowbray Community Church, Westmoreland Street , Harrogate, HG1 5AT United Kingdom
In the second section of this study we will look at the threefold topic of ‘Faith’ (James and Hebrews), ‘Hope’ (1 & 2 Peter) and ‘Love’ (I, 2 & 3 John).
