The Parish of Sandal Magna

Oasis 2016 by Wendy Boutle

Once again we 'seniors' gathered at St Paul's for what we knew would be a wonderful three day 'Holiday' of fun, friendship, fellowship, laughter and lovely food.

There was a buzz of excitement and expectancy as we met with friends to enjoy tea, coffee and croissants before choosing our activity of the day. Would it be flower arranging, card making, carpet bowls, hand massage? The list was endless.

Over the next three days we heard talks given by Rupert and Sally on two Irish saints, Patrick and Kevin, with photographs from their recent trip to Ireland, and Paul Brough speaking about the Soap works in Walton and the dispute between Squire Waterton and Mr Simpson, who gave the land for St Pauls' to be built upon. Terry sang to us and we joined together to sing our favourite songs.

Our daily prayer and meditation times were precious as we praised God and gave thanks to Him for his goodness. Thanks are due to all those who worked so hard to make this another successful Oasis.

(How did they serve so many delicious meals from St Paul’s tiny Kitchen?).
